How to Install a wheel mod on a Logitech G29 G923 G920

Installing an Acelith mod on a Logitech G29, G920 or G923? Follow this guide from start to finish before connecting the wheel again.

Tools you may need

• small Phillips screwdriver;
• H2, H2.5 and H4 hex keys;
• a clean, well-lit work surface;
• the spacer, screws, nuts and button caps supplied with your Acelith mod.

Tool requirements can vary slightly between products. Always check the product page before starting.

Part 1: Remove the original Logitech rim

Remove the rear screws

Disconnect the wheel and place it on a stable surface. Remove the small screws behind the hub, including those securing the L3 and R3 buttons. On Xbox versions, these are the LB and RB controls.

Open the front cover

Remove the six front screws around the Logitech logo. Carefully separate the front half of the wheel from the base.

Protect the G29 selector

This step applies only to the G29. The PS3 and PS4 selector at the top of the hub is fragile. Do not hit, bend or force it while opening the wheel.

Disconnect the circuit board

Carefully unplug the white cable. Remove the small silver screws holding the circuit board, then lift the board from the original wheel tray.

Remove the original buttons

Remove the two silver screws and the two screws securing the L2 and R2 buttons. Keep all original hardware organised.

Reassemble the hub

Return the circuit board to its position, secure it with the silver screws and reconnect the white cable. Make sure the cable is not trapped. On the G29, check that the selector is correctly aligned.

Close the faceplate

Place the faceplate back in its original position and secure it using the small rear screws removed at the beginning.

Part 2: Install the Acelith mod

Position the spacer

Take the black Acelith spacer from the kit. Leave its black screws and nuts in place. Fit it onto the centre of the hub with the Acelith lettering facing upright.

Secure the spacer

Use the six large screws previously removed from the Logitech cap. Tighten them evenly, but do not overtighten them. The original Logitech threads are made from plastic and can be damaged.

Attach the Acelith plate

Remove the six black countersunk screws from the spacer and use them to attach the Acelith plate. Check that the nuts remain correctly positioned behind the spacer.

Install the button caps

Before fully tightening the plate, insert the four supplied button caps. The two longer caps go in the inner holes. The two shorter caps have left and right positions, so swap them if they do not sit correctly.

Tighten and customise

Press every button to confirm that it moves freely. Tighten the six black plate screws evenly, then add the supplied control stickers, race number or centre logo.

Final check

• all buttons move and return correctly;
• the white cable is connected and not trapped;
• the G29 selector moves correctly;
• the spacer and plate are secure;
• no screw has been overtightened.
